When taking care of your hair, remember that it takes more than just shampooing and conditioning. If you would like to create high shine in your hair, use the following tips:

• Use a smoothing or shine fluid/cream/serum ( like Alterna’s Caviar Radiant Smoothing Lotion) after towel drying and right before flat ironing. It is possible to use too much so use a little at first and then use a little more when finishing out the hair before you put any hairspray in.

• If you are attending an event or function where pictures will be taken, plan to spend an extra 30min-45 min doing extra detail work on your hair. That way if you need to blow dry section by section or do any extra curling you won’t end up late!

• Deep condition (try Alterna’s Caviar Hair Masque with Seasilk) once a week as part of your ongoing routine for you hair. Your hair will be more manageable and will look shinier on its own in the long run.

• Use a leave-in conditioner (like Kevin Murphy’s Staying Alive with plant extracts) before any styling to protect the hair’s structure from high heat damage from curling, flat ironing or blow drying.

• Use a flexible spray lightly before curling any of the hair as to create a stronger wave or curl. Then, when the style is finished (combed, pinned or brushed out) you can spray a harder hold spray like Kevin Murphy’s Session spray before walking out the door. Be sure to spray 10-12 inches away from the hair and scrunch any of the curls up to allow them to tighten. You can always bring the flexible spray with you for any additional touch-ups before a picture or entrance.

• And don’t forget: Your hair’s shine is only there to reflect more light on your fabulousness! So smile, pose and “jeuj” the heck out of your hair with a little hair toss and you are good to go.
