Bangs have been a stylish option in many forms throughout the “ages.” From the ancient times of Cleopatra, to the silent movie era of Louise Brooks, or on to the sexy Bettie Page or 1960′s mod Julie Christie- we can see how bangs have timelessness as well as a period feel.
When styling a solid bang like Gwen’s or Bettie Page’s:
- towel dry after shampooing, rough dry until 40% dry and apply a cocktail of Kevin Murphy Easy Rider and Bodyguard Lotion
- use a round brush to create the soft look on a blunt bang by slowly creating tension on the brush with medium heat. Make sure to direct the heat down the hair shaft so as not to ruffle up the cuticle layer that will cause frizz
- flat iron any difficult pieces while using a scooping convex motion
- spray lightly with Kevin Murphy Session Spray for shiny, firm hold
When styling more textured bangs like Jennifer Lopez or Julie Christie:
- towed dry after shampooing, rough dry 40% dry, then add Kevin Murphy Motion Lotion
- use a flat cushion brush to blow dry the bangs with light tension making sure to direct the medium heat dryer down the hair shaft
- comb the dry bangs down and oscillate the dryer over the bangs to create lightness and movement
- lightly spray with Alterna Working Spray 10-12 inches away for flexible, light hold
