Ladies Of Mischief

At Emerson Salon, if you walk in to our front area you might notice some cool decorations of clock gears as well as nice, dark colored bureaus for stylist stations. This is part of our “steampunk,” theme. What is steampunk you ask?

“Steampunk is characterized by a setting in which steam power predominates as the energy source for industrial technologies, inspired by the 19th century………. Steampunk perhaps most recognizably features anachronistic technologies or retro futuristic inventions as people in the 19th century might have envisioned them, and is likewise rooted in this era’s perspective on fashion, culture, architectural style, and art. Such technology may include fictional machines like those found in the works of H. G. Wells and Jules Verne, ….” (excerpted from Wikipedia)

In the same guise, a very talented group of knitters and crocheters named, “The Ladies of Mischief,” have created a steampunk yarn pattern and photography book that not only shows their abilities but also creativity. They also included snippets about their ladies’ imagined biographies and writings.

D’Arcy (of D’Arcy Hair Design at Emerson Salon) assisted this talented crew with the highly stylized hair required for such an endeavor! This book has been 2 years in the making and we are so proud to share it with you! To peruse or buy go to: http://www.cooperativepress.com/shop/needles-and-artifice/
