These past weeks we’ve seen the wider release of the film Black Swan directed by Darren Aronofsky starring Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis, Barbara Hershey and Winona Ryder. Aronofsky’s stellar resume credits include the Wrestler, Requiem for a Dream, and the Fountain so it is not a surprise that critics are hailing this top notch film as a must see this season.
The movie follows Portman as a ballerina who is given the one in a liftetime chance to head her first ballet in Swan Lake. Her struggles with her overbearing mother (Hershey) are chronicled throughout the film as she battles to embrace a darker side for her debut role. Standing in her way is the bold new balllerina, Lily (Kunis) who is gunning for Portman’s position in the ballet.

At the premiere of the film, we get to see Natalie in all her elegance with her long tresses released from its tight ballerina bun. This haircolor is a combination of a darkest brown all over color at the root and medium and light neutral brown balayaged highlights. Styling this red carpet look is a snap! Using Moroccan Styling Oil, apply to towel dried hair following a Kevin.Murphy Experience with Maxi.Wash Detox Shampoo and Born.Again Treatment conditioner. Blow dry the hair straight with attention to creating volume at the top of the head by holding the large round brush above the section. Once completely dry, take a 1 to 1.5 ” flat iron to large vertical sections 2-3″ from the root (think of creating a curly bow on a gift with scissors) Use tension as you slowly curve the flat iron down the section making sure to leave 1″ at the end uncurled. This creates a sexy wave/curl that tends to look more modern than using a curling iron all over the head.
