Jessica Alba Goes Red

Check out Jessica Alba’s hot new look as she goes with a dark red hair color that works great with her skin tone and really accentuates her natural beauty. We love this dark red as a hair color for fall that meshes well with the changing seasons. With her hair done up in a simple bun and a basic grey blouse, we think Jessica Alba’s look really pop’s and we can’t wait to see what other trends Fall will bring!

Red Hair Rocks!

When coming to a decision on a hue of hair that suits your style and coloring, remember the following when you choose any red hue:

-Red is the largest color molecule and cannot, without sufficient opening of the cuticle layer of the hair, penetrate the hair shaft.

-Sometimes hair needs to be pre-lightened in order for the exact shade of red to show up on your particular hair type.

-Warm skin tones do well with a blue based red to balance out the yellows and oranges in their skin.

-Cool skin tones do well with warm or neutral based reds to balance out the pinks and ivory in their skin.

-Avoid shampooing until 3 days after your color service
(you may rinse or condition but do not emulsify or lather so the red can settle into the hair’s structure.)

-Buy appropriate color safe shampoo and conditioner
(like Kevin Murphy’s Luxury or Angel lines.)

-Avoid using high heat blow dryers or flat irons because high heat fades color.

-Use a color shield protectant like Alterna’s Caviar Repair Spray with Color Hold when it is dry to protect your hair’s color from the sun.

-Ask your stylist to book a semi or demi permanent red gloss 3 weeks after your initial service to keep it looking intense, vibrant, and true to tone.

Some Great Haircut Ideas From MopShots

To style the bob haircut in the first two pics, first blow dry your hair with a medium hold gel, like Fudge’s Erekt (for finer hair), which plumps up the hairs and holds them in the direction you dry them into, or Fudge’s Fat Hed (for thicker locks).

Once dry, finish the look with a piecing product to enhance the textured pieces like Kevin Murphy’s Sticky Business(for thicker hair locks) or a little bit of Alterna’s Radiant Smoothing Lotion (for finer hair).
