Concert Update – The Temper Trap at the Crocodile 10/17

Oh how we loved (500) Day of Summer! And one of the greatest parts of the movie was the amazing sound track that accompanied it, including the lead single by Temper Trap, Sweet Disposition. Now that Melbourne, Australia’s Temper Trap has released their new album, we can add Fader to the list of great songs. We are super excited to see Temper Trap live in concert and see if they can deliver the same great performance as on the CD. The Temper Trap will be playing October 17th at the newly renovated Crocodile Cafe in Belltown. More details can be found here. Check out this great music video for Sweet Disposition:

Concert Update – Grizzly Bear at The Moore 10/16

Grizzly Bear, the Boston-born band, made waves in the indie rock scene with the hit single Two Weeks to the point that their latest release “Veckatimest” charted in the top 10 on the Billboard. This was odd since the band’s preview release “Yellow House” was highly acclaimed in the elite hipster circles in Brooklyn and Portland. Regardless, Grizzly Bear’s catchy tunes and obvious talent has helped the band rise up to mainstream acclaim that is much deserved.

Grizzly Bear will be back in Seattle for a headlining performance at the historic Moore Theater on October 16th. Tickets and more information can be found here. Check out the video for Two Weeks here:

New Music We Like: Roddy Hart

Check out this new song from Scottish indie rocker’s Roddy Hart. After eschewing a career in law, singer Roddy chose instead to self record and release a demo that quickly brought him critical acclaim and the attention of the music industry. Roddy’s new major-lable release “Sign Language” will be available on November 9th and we are very excited. Here is the video for his first single “Send a Message”:

Concert Update – Passion Pit, Oct 11th at Showbox

Hailing from beautiful Boston, MA, Passion Pit is finally gracing Seattle with their indie dance rock epicness. Coming off of having released “Manners” earlier this year which as become an internet sensation, the band is sure to put on a hot show and we anticipate it selling out, so buy your tickets soon!

Passion Pit started as a one man act with lead singer Michael Angelakos creating a short EP as a Valentine’s Day present for his girlfriend. This disc soon made its way up the music food chain with Michael and Passion Pit getting signed by French Kiss. We love hearing this kind of happy story almost as much as we love a good catchy pop song, and Passion Pit seems to be a virtual machine at pumping out tunes you can’t get out of your head. Check out the video below.

The concert is on October 11th at the Showbox, more information and tickets can be found on the Showbox website here.

Emerson Salon’s Guide to Bumbershoot – Day 1

As you may have guessed, we love being a part of this great city, and one of the amazing benefits of Seattle is the annual music festival called Bumbershoot, where for 3 glorious days, the Seattle Center is graced with an unending string of musical acts and live performances. Unfortunately with a dizzying array of talent ranging from the biggest named stars to no-name indie talents, it can be bewildering to navigate. However, Emerson Salon is here to help. With our emphasis on finding great musical talent, wherever it may hide, we have teased out this year’s must see performances.

Tickets are available on bumbershoot.org and run from $50 for a day pass to $120 for the entire 3-day festival. While this is a pretty penny, the show is jam-packed with amazing talent so it is not entirely outrageous. If you can bamboozle your way into a free ticket, all the better!

Photos & Video from the Emerson Salon Party

Every stylist worked on a few models leading up the party and had fun with their hair. Lancer did this amazing post apocolyptic theme’d hairstyle on his model, Star Rising. We love the mix of fashion and art, it reminds us of Tank Girl meets Doctor Who (very steampunk).

D’Arcy and Friend

Thanks to everyone who dropped by to wish us a Happy Birthday and a special thanks to Via Tribunali for providing the delicious food. We can’t wait for another great year meeting great people and being a part of the Capitol Hill community.

Free Concert: Kia brings Seattle Santigold 8/23

Wow! We just found out that Seattle will be host to a free Santigold concert tonight, August 23rd! All that is required to gain attendance to this hour of sonic bliss is to test drive the new Kia Soul. Sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me! All of the activities are taking place at the Pacific Industrial Center in the SODO neighborhood. Check out this Seattle PI post for more details.
