Style inspired by Metric’s Emily Haines

Emily Haines simple yet always unique and put-together style can be a rather easy look to achieve. The Canadian-born singer’s blonde locks are quickly becoming her trademark. She has fine hair and knows how to work it. Her soft, layered hair can be worn with strong fringe (bangs) when she is performing to give her a harder, rockstar look. She is best known for sporting this look with some skinny jeans and a t-shirt.

For fine hair, this look is best achieved with a thickening cream to start – and finished with the flat iron and some spray wax for texture. I personally like to use the hair drier when spraying the wax to more evenly disperse the product. Just be careful to not spray too close to the hair – I recommend about a foot of space.

Proving how versatile and simple her style is, she is also famous for her adorable, more feminine look. To achieve this look, start out with a thickening cream and a root lift on damp hair, then blow-dry with a paddle brush. Finish off with some shine spray and a flexible hold hair spray for a looser and less structured look. Ask your stylist for a soft-layered cut – with the layers in the crown a bit shorter for variation and volume.

So whether you are inspired by Metric’s ‘Fantasies’, or solo work ‘Knives Don’t Have Your Back’ – you’ll be sure to have the hair to match!
