Ellen Yates's Bio

Growing up in Federal Way, Ellen always thought her career would be in nursing, perhaps because of all her soccer injuries she had growing up. When she graduated from High School, she moved back to her birthplace in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and enrolled in nursing school. However, after the first year, she realized that nursing was NOT her true passion and that her love of beauty, fashion and people made cosmetology a much more appropriate career path!

With that goal in mind, she moved to Iowa City and went to La’James International College of Cosmetology. She was accepted into the school’s advanced salon and was even able to graduate 2 months early. While in school, she received training in London, San Francisco and Chicago.

After graduation, Ellen moved back to the greater Seattle area with her dog, Daisy Mae, and was accepted into an apprenticeship program at Habitude Salon in Ballard. There, she was able to further her skills and training and was invited to attend a men’s design class in Los Angeles as part of her apprenticeship. She spent the following year working at a salon in North Seattle refining her skills before deciding that it was time to work in a more creative and diverse environment like Capitol Hill. Ellen is ready to embark on this new adventure and cannot wait to meet you and help you to look your best!
