Lancer Forney's Bio

Lancer Forney has 20 years of salon experience and approaches every haircut and color with a systematic and calculated technique. He maintains a friendly and open rapport with his customers and begins every appointment with a consultation to understand his clients’ needs. From this he develops a plan that translates into awesome hair. He strives to make every visit to Emerson Salon both memorable and positive.

Lancer began his stylist career as an assistant at Frazzle, a high end salon in Ohio, in 1990. He settled in Seattle in 1999 to expand his coloring skills via advanced training at the Gene Juarez ATS. Looking for a salon to call home, Lancer has worked at several Seattle hair salons before finding Emerson Salon where he has worked since its opening in August of 2008. Many of Lancer’s clients have followed him throughout his journey and have been loyal to him for more than a decade.

When cutting hair, Lancer considers the individual. He works with the hair that presents itself; navigating through problem areas and taming unruly locks with ease. In March of 2010, Lancer completed a two day precision cutting class at the Sassoon Academy where he further refined his cuttting skills. He combines his precision cutting, texturizing, and razoring techniques to give each client a unique look!

Lancer’s coloring skills are top notch. He can do everything from subtle grey-blending to creating beautiful shades among every color in the color wheel. In the end, his colors suit each client perfectly.

Favorite coffee house
I love me some Stumptown coffee but I miss the Aurafice Cafe (where Stumptown is now)!
Prior salon experience
Diversity Hair, Hair Masters, Patrick Bear Salon, Vain Salon, Acme Barbershop.
Favorite Restaurant
I enjoy restaurants who implement good service, who have an extensive wine/specialty cocktail menu, and where top chefs exist, such as the Buenos Aires Grill, Tin Table, and Via Tribunali.
Where I can be found on a Friday night
I work every Friday evening till 8:00; afterwards I enjoy finding intimate bars and restaurants to unwind in and have a great drink or two along with a delicious meal. Afterwards, I might be found at the Noc Noc, The Cuff, or the Merc.
What I love most about being a stylist
Every day is a new day! Each client is like a puzzle; containing many pieces I get to form and recreate. Acknowledgment from one's co-workers, employers, colleagues and clients is especially rewarding!
Favorite hairstyle
My favorite hairstyle is one that starts with a great cut and color; looks great on you and won't get you fired for wearing- yet can be easily re-styled to make the cut at various events and occasions you may attend in your free time! I most like seeing a strong haircut accented with a strong haircolor that is even throughout and that has depth and shine! Short cuts offer the most creativity but the best haircut is one that suits each client and makes him/her happiest!
Favorite hair product
Right now I love Alterna's Caviar Extreme Wax for adding flexibility to shorter coarser hairstyles. I also love Kevin Murphy's Motion Lotion for wavy/curly hair, to hold the hair's shape and curls without frizz. Lastly, I love Alterna's Caviar Radiant Smoothing Lotion because it cuts your blow drying time down along with adding shine and movement to long flowing layered hair!
Favorite Movies
I enjoy movies that make you think, are enjoyable, and that have intereresting visuals, minus CGI overload. My favorites include Grindhouse 1 & 2, Face Off, Repo! The Genetic Opera, Serenity, Tank Girl, Kill Bill 1 & 2, Fight Club, The Prestige, the Saw series, Steamboy, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Hard Candy, Freeway, House of Flying Daggers, Hostel 1 & 2, The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, Henry & June, But I'm A Cheerleader, Face Off, Pulp Fiction, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, Secretary, Beetlejuice, Interview with the Vampire, Tank Girl.
Favorite Music
I enjoy musicians that put on a good show and those who consist of or are an artist(s) who excel at their craft, and who veer from the norm and move me in some way. Nothing beats an exceptional singer, masterful lyrics, and great musicianship! I also like music that I can dance to. My favorites include Cyndi Lauper(!), Fictional, Violent Femmes, Depeche Mode, Siouxsie & The Banshees, VNV Nation, Ministry, Erasure, Dead Can Dance, VNV Nation, Erasure, Johnny Lydon, April March, Duran Duran, Dresden Dolls, Legion Within, Icon Of Coil, Sarah Brightman, Emilie Autumn, and Gogol Bordello, Mr. B The Gentleman Rhymer, The Arcade Fire, And One, Die Form, and The Creatures.
